Who we are
Unskipped is an iPhone app developed by Mobile Minds, based in Italy, which is also the data controller under the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR).
If you have any questions about this policy, write to info@mobileminds.it.
What we don’t collect
Unskipped has no accounts and no servers, and it doesn’t send your data to Mobile Minds or anyone else. It contains no ads, analytics tools or third-party libraries, and it doesn’t track you across apps and websites.
This means Mobile Minds has no access to your workouts, your health data or anything else you enter in the app.
What stays on your iPhone
What you create
Workouts, folders, plans, scheduled sessions, your athlete profile (maximum and resting heart rate, zones, reference paces, goal) and your shoes, with a photo if you add one. This data is saved in the app’s storage on your iPhone and, if you turn on sync, in your iCloud (see below).
Widgets and reminders
Widgets read a summary of your upcoming sessions that the app saves on the device. Reminders are local notifications, created and shown by your iPhone without going through a server.
Apple Watch
When you send a workout to Apple Watch, Unskipped schedules it in the Workout app through WorkoutKit, the Apple framework that connects iPhone and Watch. The workout travels from your iPhone to your Watch.
Health data
Only with your permission, Unskipped reads the following from Health:
- running workouts and their routes;
- heart rate, including resting heart rate, and VO₂ max;
- distance, active energy and steps;
- running power, stride length, ground contact time and vertical oscillation.
It uses this data only to recognize the sessions you’ve completed, show you summaries, volume and statistics, calculate race predictions and personal bests, and count your weekly streak and the distance on your shoes.
- Read only. Unskipped never writes or changes anything in Health.
- On your device only. Data read from Health, and what Unskipped derives from it (summaries of completed sessions, predictions, personal bests, the distance on your shoes), stays on your iPhone and is never saved to iCloud, even with sync turned on.
- Never shared. It isn’t passed to third parties or used for advertising or profiling.
iCloud sync
iCloud sync stays off until you turn it on: with Restore from iCloud the first time you open the app, or at any time from Settings › Data in the app. That way you’ll find your data on your other devices.
Only what you create in the app goes to iCloud: workouts, folders, plans, scheduled sessions with their status (for example done or skipped, and whether they’re already scheduled on your Watch), your profile without the values read from Health, and your shoes, with a photo if you added one. The data is stored in the private database of your iCloud account, an Apple service (CloudKit) handled under Apple’s privacy policy. Mobile Minds can’t read or delete it: there are no servers of our own and no Unskipped accounts.
Data read from Health (runs, heart rate, VO₂ max) never goes to iCloud, and neither does anything Unskipped derives from it, such as summaries of completed sessions and the distance on your shoes. Race times also stay on your device only. On another iPhone, a completed session is matched to the run recorded in Health on that device, if there is one.
When you turn off sync, the app asks whether to delete your data from iCloud as well. Delete from iCloud erases all Unskipped data from your iCloud, while the copy on your phone stays. If you choose Keep in iCloud, or delete the app without turning off sync, the copy in iCloud stays until you delete it.
Information collected by Apple
If you’ve chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iOS settings, Apple may send Mobile Minds anonymous crash reports and aggregate usage statistics. This data is collected and handled by Apple and doesn’t identify you. You can turn it off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
Permissions and how to revoke them
Unskipped asks for permissions only when they’re needed, and it keeps working if you decline: without a permission, only the feature that needs it stays empty, and the rest of the app works as usual.
- Health: Health app › your profile › Apps › Unskipped, or Settings › Privacy & Security › Health.
- Notifications: Settings › Notifications › Unskipped.
- Apple Watch: if you delete or move a session in Unskipped, it’s removed or updated on your Watch as well.
- iCloud: turn off sync from Settings › Data in the app.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app from your iPhone deletes all the data Unskipped has saved on the device. To delete the copy in iCloud too, first turn off sync from Settings › Data and choose Delete from iCloud.
Data in Health belongs to Health and stays there: Unskipped didn’t create it and doesn’t delete it.
Your rights
The GDPR gives you the right to access, correct and delete your data, and to object to its processing. Since Mobile Minds doesn’t hold any personal data about you, you can exercise these rights directly on your device, as described above. You’re still welcome to write to us with any request.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, such as the Italian Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it).
Health notice
Unskipped is not a medical device. Plans, paces and predictions are general guidance and estimates. Before starting a training program, especially if you have health problems, talk to a doctor.
